Course Overview

As the electrification of heat grows, this means a more secure heat supply for sectors currently heavily reliant on imported fossil fuels for heat. It further offers opportunities to the electricity market as a whole such as in terms of demand flexibility.

Thermal heat storage too is a proven technology, that will further add to flexibility for System Operators. Using the storage possibilities from the electrification of heat will both lower emissions in the heat sector while adding additional storage potential using the existing grid.

We must look at the current basic structure of the electricity market and how regulatory reforms can encourage greater electrification of heat in Ireland and how these reforms can exploit the demand flexibility and heat storage opportunities that electrification presents.

Course Objectives and Learning Outcomes

Attendees will gain knowledge of the broader advantages to the development of the electrification of heat in Ireland. This is seen in the demand flexibility potential, using surplus renewable energy already going to waste and making better use of the electricity grid. This further helps decarbonise heating and help lower emissions in the heat sector. Further the webinar will outline the technology types in thermal heat storage that are available and case studies on this storage.

Who Should Attend

Policy Makers, Regulation Analysts, Electricity Market Professionals, Sustainability Managers, Engineering Managers, Academics, Engineers.
