Industry‑Recognised Safety Training for the Wind Energy Sector
Global Wind Organisation (GWO) Courses provide essential, internationally recognised safety training aligned with the GWO standards. These courses are designed for individuals and companies working in, or transitioning into, the offshore wind energy sector, ensuring compliance, safety, and workforce readiness.
We offer subsidised GWO training for eligible trainees and companies (limited funding for spaces available), delivered through approved and experienced training providers.
We currently support training across the following GWO‑certified courses:
GWO Basic Safety Training (BST) Offshore
The full GWO BST Offshore package covers the core safety competencies required to work safely in offshore wind environments. This comprehensive course includes: – First Aid – Manual Handling – Fire Awareness – Working at Heights – Sea Survival
Ideal for new entrants to offshore wind or professionals requiring full GWO compliance.
GWO First Aid / Enhanced First Aid
Provides the knowledge and practical skills to administer first aid in wind energy environments, including enhanced scenarios relevant to offshore operations.
GWO Manual Handling
Focuses on safe lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling techniques to reduce the risk of injury in turbine and site environments.
GWO Fire Awareness
Covers fire prevention, fire behaviour, and safe evacuation procedures specific to wind turbine settings.
GWO Working at Heights
Delivers critical training for working safely at height, including fall protection, rescue techniques, and hazard awareness.
GWO Sea Survival
Essential offshore safety training covering sea survival techniques, emergency response, and evacuation procedures.
WLA Offshore (Wind Limited Access)
Provides specialist training for personnel who require limited access to wind turbines offshore without completing the full GWO BST.
We offer training subsidies on offshore related GWO courses for eligible individuals and companies, subject to availability of funding. Subsidies are designed to reduce the cost burden of mandatory safety training while supporting skills development across the Irish wind energy workforce.
