Course Overview

This course provides an overview of the connection offer processes and through examples demonstrates how connection policy will be applied to these connection applications going forward. It also provide an overview of the electricity and ongoing grid factors like constraints & curtailment.

About the Trainer

Rory Mullan has been working in the Irish electricity industry since 1998. Prior to becoming a senior consultant, Rory has a background of working in commercial and technical roles in NIE, ESB and EirGrid. Rory is a member of the WEI and the RNI grid committees. Rory is also a member of the ISEA grid committee. Through his roles in the renewable trade associations he has been at the forefront of the development of connection policy over the past ten years.

Eligibility Criteria for funding application:

Eligibility Companies

Key requirements regarding the eligibility of businesses to participate in funding:
– Companies must be from private enterprise based in the Republic of Ireland.
– Skillnet Ireland funding is not available to public sector bodies or organisations that are publicly funded such as community-based not-for-profit companies or charities.
– Commercial semi-state companies are eligible providing that income contributed to a Network is not sourced from the public purse.
– Sole traders are eligible as Companies.

Eligibility Trainees
Key requirements regarding the Trainees:
– Trainees must be based in the Republic of Ireland to be eligible.
– Trainees must be employed within private enterprise.
– Green Tech Skillnet are required to collect data on the profile of trainees supported and record this data for Skillnet Ireland.
