This Skillnet-funded High Voltage micro-credential delivers practical and safety-critical training for engineers and technicians working in the offshore renewable energy sector. Learners develop technical competence in HV operation, safety legislation, and fault management through simulators, labs, and real-world case studies.
This micro-credential covers the following modules:
- Module 1: High Voltage Operations – includes switching, relay protection, energisation & test equipment use.
- Module 2: Safe Management of HV Systems – covers safety legislation (SHAWW, RAMS), human factors, and offshore planning.
Upon completion of this course, learners will be able to:
- Perform HV operations using real equipment and simulators
- Apply safety legislation and RAMS in offshore contexts
- Troubleshoot and test protection relays and HV components
- Understand digital substations and emergency procedures
This course will deliver 4 hours of online learning per week, and 4 full day lab sessions which require in-person attendance.
