Course Overview
The General Scheme of the Planning and Development Bill 2022 represents the most significant review and revision of the law and framework underpinning planning and development in Ireland in over twenty years.
The webinar will provide an overview of the proposed framework with a particular focus on how it will apply to off and onshore renewable wind development.
Course Objectives and Learning Outcomes
The purpose of the session is to guide professionals working in the planning and development of off and onshore projects in navigating this lengthy and complex piece of new legislation. In particular, the focus will be on the key changes proposed by the Bill from an on and offshore consenting perspective and the key areas to watch in future iterations of the bill, with a focus on the proposed provisions which offer key support to the sector and ought to be retained and any suggested amendments.

About the Trainer
Jacinta Conway is a Partner in the Environment & Planning Group in Arthur Cox and has practised exclusively in the area of Environment and Planning for many years. She has played a key role in advising on some of the most complex and significant transactions and litigation in the country. She has a special focus on the renewable energy, waste and natural resources sectors, and specialises in de-risking projects at the outset of their life cycle. Jacinta has also extensive litigation experience in relation to planning and environmental judicial review challenges, planning injunction proceedings and criminal enforcement prosecutions.
Laura Rafferty is Of Counsel in the Environment & Planning Group in Arthur Cox. She is a former Barrister whose practice and experience covers all areas of environmental, planning, infrastructure, and health and safety law. Laura regularly advises on contentious and non-contentious matters arising out of the pre-planning, planning, development and funding of projects with a focus on risk assessing major infrastructural, housing and energy projects. She also has a particular specialism in the adversarial areas of planning judicial review, injunctive relief and criminal enforcement proceedings.
