Course Overview
Within the Climate Action Plan there are targets for the electrification of transport, across domestic EV’s, to commercial vans and bus fleets. Electrification technology offers a route to expand renewable transport in Ireland, however this requires the right policy framework in place to see the potential in transport electrification to be fully utilised.
The transport sector in Ireland, across private and public sectors, is currently heavily reliant on imported fossil fuels for energy. The greater the electrification of our transport sectors means we can further move toward a more secure energy source for transport in Ireland while using our growing renewable electricity generation.
Course Objectives and Learning Outcomes
To fully utilise the potential in electrification in Ireland, we need the right policies and we need to build the right infrastructure to form the backbone for expansion, which the course will outline for attendees, as well as presenting some of the technologies available in the area, across public and private EV charging, and fleet electrification. Looking further also at some of the policy barriers in the area.
